Names of Graham Descendants:
In Scotland the families of Grahams are listed as Graham, Grahame, Graeme, Grim (Grimes), Menteith and Montrose.
There are other great families of Grahams. The Grahams of Inchbrakie included Patrick ( called 'Black Pate' from powder burns on his face) who was the right hand man of the great Marquis.
The Fintry Grahams descended from Sir. William de Graham and Princess Mary, daughter of King Robert III. Their most renowned descendant was the brilliant soldier, John Graham of Claverhouse, Viscount Dundee.
The Menteith Grahams were descendants of The Earl of Menteith, one of the oldest peerages in Scotland, descended from Prince David, eldest son of King Robert II. The eighth Earl was unmarried and at his death the peerage line became dormant. The Border Grahams settled in the debatable lands North East of Carlisle and became famous as an unpaid frontier force. Some became feared Border reivers, able to call on 300 men-at-arms within an hour, while the Netherby Graham's became respected citizens & administrators. Many reivers (Grahams and other families) were brutally destroyed or deported by the Duke of Cumberland with the approval of James VI at the beginning of the 17th Century.
There are many other septs & cadet branches of the major families, including:
Airth , Allardyce, Blair, Bonar, Bonnar, Bontein, Bontine, Buntain, Bunting, Graeme, Grahame, Grahym, Grim, Grymn, Hadden, Haldane, Macgibbon, Macgilvernock, Maharg, Menteith, Monteith, Pitcairn,
